큰 슬픔이 거센 강물처럼 네 삶에 밀려와

마음의 평화를 산산조각 내고

가장 소중한 것들을 네 눈에서 영원히 앗아갈 때면

힘든 순간마다 네 가슴에 대고 말하라

“이것 또한 지나가리라.”

끝없이 힘든 일들이 네 기쁨의 노래를 멈추게 하고

너무나 지쳐 기도하기조차 힘들 때면

이 진실의 말을 통해 네 슬픔을 사라지게 하고

힘들고 무거운 하루의 짐을 가볍게 하라

“이것 또한 지나가리라.”

행운이 미소 짓고 즐거움과 기쁨이 넘쳐

하루하루를 아무런 근심 걱정 없이 보낼 때면

세속적인 보물에만 빠져 안주하지 않도록

이 말의 의미를 깊이 새기고 가슴에 품어라

“이것 또한 지나가리라.”

열심히 성실하게 일했기에 명성과 명예 그리고

지상의 온갖 귀한 것들에 미소 짓게 될 때면

기억하라, 우리 삶에서 가장 오래 되고 웅대한 일도

이 지상에서의 잠깐 스쳐가는 한순간임을…

“이것 또한 지나가리라.”
